The “Universe” tab shows which parts of the database the program uses when generating questions. You can choose to use the entire database, or you can limit the search to a few books, chapters, or verses.
The universe specified when an exercise is created is only a suggestion to the student. The student executing the exercise can always change the universe.
Note that (especially in the New Testament) a sentence may span several verses. 3ET will only choose a sentence if all of its words are within the universe.
The larger the universe, the more sentences 3ET has to choose from. This also means that a large universe can cause 3ET to run more slowly. Using the entire New Testament as your universe is normally not a problem, but using the entire Old Testament can cause the program to appear slow.
