3ET: The Question Window

3ET can generate two types of quizzes: A continuous quiz and a question set. Question sets are used when the quiz is to be uploaded to the teaching portal Moodle.

Both types of quiz use a question panel consisting of a sentence and a table of features. For example:

3ET

The chosen sentence units are written in red and each one corresponds to a row in the table below.

If one of the requested features is a part of the sentence text, 3ET will replace the word in the sentence with a number in parentheses and the corresponding number will be listed in the table:

3ET

Under the table there are three buttons:

Locate
Shows the location of the sentence in the Bible. If the sentence spans several verses, only the first verse is given.
Check answer
Checks the answer provided by the user.
Show answer
Shows the correct answer.

Answering

There are four types of features, which are answered in different ways:

Lists
Lists are features with a limited number of values. This type of feature is answered by choosing the appropriate value in a drop-down list.
Foreign texts
Foreign texts are features whose value consists of letters in a foreign alphabet. This type of feature can be answered in two ways: If you have set your program preferences to indicate that you have a foreign keyboard, the feature value is simply typed in the input field. Otherwise, the value is typed using Latin characters. (Read more about typing Greek and Hebrew.)
Latin texts
Latin texts are features whose value is a set of letters in the Latin alphabet. This type of feature is quite rare when working with Greek and Hebrew. The feature value is simply typed in the input field.
Numbers
Numbers are features with a numeric value. This type of feature is quite rare. The feature value is simply typed in the input field.

Continuous Quiz

A continuous quiz is generated by selecting the menu item Run > Continuous. For a continuous quiz, the window looks like this:

3ET

In the lower right hand corner there are two buttons:

Next question
Shows a new problem.
Finish
Terminates the quiz and returns to the tabs.

Question Set

A question set (intended for upload to Moodle) is generated by selecting the menu item Run > Generate question set. For a question set, the window looks like this:

3ET

Instead of one question the window here contains five. Using the scrollbar to the right you can scroll the remaining questions into view.

Each question has a name and a title. The name is used to identify the question in Moodle and the title is shown to the student trying the exercise in Moodle. All questions must have a name and the first question must have a title. The title can be omitted for the remaining questions; in that case, the title of the first question is reused.

Under the feature table there is an extra button:

Delete question
Removes this question from the question set.

In the lower right hand corner there are three buttons:

Add 5 questions
Adds an additional five question to the collection.
Save
Saves the question set in an XML file, which can later be uploaded to Moodle.
Finish
Closes the question set and returns to the tabs. The user is warned if the collection has not been saved.
